SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT: 

ANOTHER GREAT BRAIN ELEVATES US – CHOKE – FROM THE NEW YORK POST:    A Boston University professor is facing calls for his termination after he suggested President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett is a “white colonizer” who uses her two adopted Haitian children as “props.”  Ibram X. Kendi, author of the New York Times bestseller “How to Be an Antiracist,” made the comments on Twitter Saturday.  “Some White colonizers ‘adopted’ Black children,” he wrote. “They ‘civilized’ these ‘savage’ children in the ‘superior’ ways of White people, while using them as props in their lifelong pictures of denial, while cutting the biological parents of these children out of the picture of humanity.”  Kendi was responding to a since-deleted tweet showing a woman who has since been identified as Barrett’s sister, Carrie — not Barrett herself — holding two children, according to the Daily Mail.  One of the great racial racketeers of our time.  A racial divider whose theories only do harm, as he racks up a fortune.

AND THERE'S MORE TO THE DRY ROT – FROM BIZPACREVIEW.COM:   A U.S. district judge nominated by former President Barack Obama has dismissed a case against a shooting suspect from the Bronx in New York City over a lack of “diversity” in the jury.  In her ruling, Judge Analisa Torres agreed with William Scott, the defendant, after he argued that there were not enough black and Hispanic people in the jury pool after an indictment was returned against him a year ago this month.  Charged in the White Plains division of the Southern District of New York, Scott was allegedly in possession of ammunition linked to a shooting in the Bronx, the New York Post reported.  Scott argued through his attorney that since he was charged in the White Plains district and not the more diverse Manhattan district, potential jurors from southern counties were excluded by prosecutors, thus prejudicing the outcome.  “Defendant has produced clear statistical evidence of underrepresentation of Black and Latinx individuals in the pool from which his grand jury was drawn, and a jury selection process that was susceptible to abuse,” the judge wrote.  So, I guess if I'm charged with a crime I can demand a certain number of conservative writers and jokesters on the jury.  Sounds about right to me.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, IT'S A WRECK OF A TOWN – OVERNIGHT:  The New York mayoralty election is already a mess.   New York is a place where the Board of Elections can't count from one to ten.  The pseudo-intellects here imposed on the voters a new system called "ranked choice," which, according to the self-same pseudos, makes election results more reflective of what voters really meant when they cast their ballots.  Accurate numbers?  Who needs accurate numbers?  It's the feelings that count.   From Fox: 

The New York City Board of Elections on Tuesday faced swift backlash over an error that resulted in 135,000 pre-election test votes being counted because they were not properly purged from the system.

The BOE took to Twitter to announce the issue and said these test votes were not cleared from the Election Management System. The board apologized and said it took "immediate measures to ensure the most accurate up to date results are reported."

Yeah, right.  Accurate.

Karol Markowicz, a columnist for the New York Post, tweeted, "Can’t be overstated how damaging this kind of thing is to public trust in elections."

The New York Times pointed out that the city used ranked-choice voting, which allows voters to list their top five candidates in order. Since no candidate was the first choice of more than 50% of voters, a computer on Tuesday tabulated ballots in a series of rounds that worked like instant run-offs.

In each round, the candidate in last place was eliminated. Votes cast for that person were then redistributed to the surviving candidates, based on whoever voters put next on their ranking list. That process repeated until only two candidates were left.

That data had indicated that Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, a former police captain who would be the city’s second Black mayor, had lost much of his lead and was ahead of former sanitation commissioner Kathryn Garcia by fewer than 16,000 votes. Besides Adams and Garcia, civil rights lawyer Maya Wiley was also still within striking distance of victory.

The New York Post reported that it was Adams who first spotted a 100,000-vote discrepancy on Tuesday.

"The vote total just released by the Board of Elections is 100,000-plus more than the total announced on election night, raising serious questions," an Adams spokesman said. "We have asked the Board of Elections to explain such a massive increase and other irregularities before we comment on the ranked-choice voting projection."

The final result is not expected until mid-July.

COMMENT:  Already the people are losing faith in the new system.  And there are thousands of absentee ballots that haven't even been counted. 

And New York is the premier city in the United States.  Give me any small town.

When the geniuses announce the "results" in July, look for possible rioting to follow.  Someone, after all, will be upset.  And that requires a riot.

SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT:

TRUMP SURVIVES – FROM POLITICO:   Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance has indicated he does not currently plan to charge the Trump Organization with crimes related to allegations of "hush money" payments and real estate value manipulations, according to a personal lawyer for Donald Trump.  Ronald Fischetti, a New York attorney who represents the former president, said on Monday that in a meeting last week, he asked Vance’s team for details on charges they were considering.  According to Fischetti, members of Vance’s team said they were considering bringing charges against the Trump Organization and its individual employees related to alleged failures to pay taxes on corporate benefits and perks. It has been widely reported that those perks included cars and apartments, and appear to only involve a small number of executives.  “We asked, ‘Is there anything else?’” Fischetti told POLITICO. “They said ‘No.’”  “It’s crazy that that’s all they had,” he added.  Another failed investigation of Donald Trump.  Once again the Treasury has been accessed to fund a probe that, if this report is accurate, will result in only slap-on-the-wrist charges against some people, if that.  No president has been as badly abused by the investigative process than  Mr. Trump.  He is owed an apology from someone, but will never get it.

MORE INSANITY – FROM THE NEW YORK POST:   White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Monday defended the “peaceful protest” of Olympic hammer thrower Gwen Berry, who on Saturday turned away from the US flag while the national anthem played and covered her head with her T-shirt that read, “Activist Athlete.”  Berry said she was “pissed” to hear “The Star-Spangled Banner” after winning a bronze medal at the US Olympic Track & Field Team Trials.  “I haven’t spoken to the president specifically about this, but I know he’s incredibly proud to be an American and has great respect for the anthem and all that it represents, especially for our men and women serving in uniform all around the world,” Psaki said at her daily press briefing.  Psaki added: “He would also say, of course, that part of that pride in our country means recognizing there are moments where we are — as a country, haven’t lived up to our highest ideals. And it means respecting the rights of people granted to them in the Constitution to peacefully protest.”  We're all for peaceful protest, but there is a right time and a right place. Olympic athletes are seen as representing the United States.  Engaging in a protest against the American flag while on the podium is selfish, mean-spirited, and self-indulgent.  Protest on your own time.

IDIOT! – OVERNIGHT –   She gets worse every day, and yet some still consider her the future of the Democratic Party.  What future is that?  From Fox: 

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., was sharply criticized over the weekend following her claim that concern from people over the spike in crime rates across the country amounted to "hysteria."

During a conversation with Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., over Zoom, Ocasio-Cortez seemingly cast doubt over the data showing crime rates rising in cities throughout the U.S., especially in New York, where shooting incidents and murders have risen 53% and 13% since the beginning of the year.

"We are seeing these headlines about percentage increases," Ocasio-Cortez said. "Now, I want to say that any amount of harm is unacceptable and too much, but I also want to make sure that this hysteria, you know, that this doesn’t drive a hysteria and that we look at these numbers in context so that we can make responsible decisions about what to allocate in that context."

The far-left "Squad" member was lambasted by critics on social media following the comments, with some calling them "shameful," and others mocking her for downplaying crime statistics while feeding into premonitions of the world ending due to climate change.

Fox News contributor Joe Concha suggested that people living in Ocasio-Cortez's New York City congressional district "who are afraid to even put their kids outside" didn't concur with her statements.

Journalist Glenn Greenwald tweeted "ordinary people" didn't have the luxury of having private security to protect them, and "acted to ensure $2 billion more in spending on the police that protects her" by voting "present" on providing more funds to the Capitol Police.

COMMENT:  AOC has had far more than her 15 minutes of fame.  It's time for the Democrats to send her to some obscure House committee and leave her there.  Maybe the House Committee on the Oppressed of Beverly Hills.  She'd fit right in.
